About Danielle

Danielle Green was elected to the district of Yan Yean in 2002. She is the mother of two sons and lives in Doreen with partner Steve.

Danielle believes in taking action to build her local community and is a member of various local clubs and is a volunteer fire-fighter with the CFA.

Danielle is passionate about creating jobs in the North so that locals spend less time travelling and more time with their families. That’s why she’s was proud of projects delivered by the former Labor Government like the Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market under construction at Epping.

Other job generating projects funded by Labor are getting our community moving like the $650 million rail line extension to South Morang, the Hurstbridge line improvements, the new Smartbus to Melbourne Airport and 961 new local bus services.

Danielle also worked with the community to secure funding for 5 new schools at Laurimar, Mernda, Epping Views, Mill Park Lakes and Merriang SDS and 5 children’s hubs at South Morang, Mernda, Laurimar, Whittlesea and Hurstbridge.

The former Labor Government also delivered new local emergency service facilities, including police, fire, SES and ambulance stations, in Hurstbridge, Diamond Creek, Arthurs Creek, Strathewen, Kalkallo, North Warrandyte, Whittlesea and Mernda.

With the election of the Baillieu Government in November 2010 much of this progress has come to an end. This includes stalling on the building of a secondary school for Doreen, cancellation of rapid transport to Mernda and the review of road upgrades such as Cooper Street in Epping.

In fact aside from sewerage for even more houses, the last Baillieu Budget delivered precisely $0 for new infrastructure projects across the Yan Yean electorate despite the need for continued investment in our community.

Danielle is continuing to fight for improvements across the Yan Yean electorate and is holding the Baillieu Government to account for its abandonment of Melbourne’s north.

This includes fighting for new schools in our growing suburbs, road improvements and fast and efficient public transport, as well as protecting our open spaces from development.
